SPIL pursues not only competitiveness and consistent earnings growth in returns for our shareholders, customers and employees but also commits to be in compliance with social and environmental responsibility for individuals, the community and the environment.
In 2008, SPIL adopted the EICC (Electronic Industry Code of Conduct), which has integrated key requirements of Social Accountability (SA) in Electronic Industries. EICC was established in order to ensure safe working conditions in the electronic supply chain, workers to be treated with respect and dignity, and manufacturers to meet environmental standard. The Code has five elements including the standards for Labor, Health& Safety, Environment, Management system and Ethics. As a member of good corporate citizens, SPIL has committed to comply with the code in October 2008 and being the way to interact with customers, suppliers, governments, and employees.
As a member of the good corporate citizens, SPIL commits to:
1) Fully support the EICC and all applicable regulations of environment including the EU Directive of Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS), and promote social and environmental concerns with manufacturing partners within supply chain.
2) Promise to conserve our environment by managing and mitigating the impact of harmful substances, as defined by industry standards, in the material and manufacturing processes.
3) Be a socially and environmentally conscious company, we operate in full compliance with the local laws and regulations regarding to ethic, corporate governance, labor, health and safety, and the environment at all SPIL sites. |

| Corporate Governance |
In 2005, SPIL began implementing Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 on management assessment of internal controls and we have the Audit Committee consists of three members comprised solely of independent directors with Nasdaq's independency requirements. Through independent director system we can reinforce the internal audit control and enhance the accuracy of our financial report, hence improving the quality of disclosure of financial information to protect our shareholders' interest... |

| Environmental Protection |
SPIL always follows the environmental practice of adhering to the principle of reverting pollution from the manufacturing processes and continual performance improvement. The environmental management of SPIL meets the domestic environmental regulations and complies with all international environmental requirements in order to minimize adverse effects on the community, environment and nature.
The international environmental management system has been conducted by SPIL since 1998. SPIL received the ISO-14001 certification in the following year. By continually improving its environmental performance, SPIL has moved from the pollution control in production operations and activities to source management, which focuses on prohibiting or restricting the use of environmentally hazardous substances in materials. This change is to meet the growing consumer trend for green products. SPIL passed the QC-080000 certification in 2008(Hazardous Substances Free management system for electronic products).
In view of the gradually serious problem in global warming caused by the emission of green house gas (GHG), SPIL has conducted annual GHG emission inventory and the reduction of power consumption in business activities since 2005 and also joined the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) since 2007. SPIL reduced extra more 2,900 tons Carbon emission in 2009 through reducing the electricity consumption on lighting management, utility energy-efficiency improvements, etc. The goal in 2010 is to reduce about 9,500 tons CO2-e, so the total amount of carbon emission reduction can be up to 20,500 tons CO2-e per year... |

| Employee Interests |
Employee is SPIL’s most cherished asset. Therefore, in addition to provide excellent welfare and a complete training and development system, SPIL also committed to uphold the human rights of workers, prohibit from Child labor being used in any stage of manufacturing and not engage in any kind of discrimination. Through integrity communication channels, labor and capital can communicate openly and instantly solving the labor conflicts so as to establish a harmonious working environment.
SPIL also cares about employees’ physical and mental health. In 2009, we won the Health Management excellent award from Bureau of Health Promotion Department for promoting healthy working environment. ... |

| Social Welfare |
SPIL always extends our heartfelt sympathies to fulfill its social responsibility for giving back by implementing public welfare projects, donating to charity and providing community care when disasters happened, such as 921 Earthquake, Sichuan Earthquake in PRC and floods caused by Typhoon Morakot, etc.
Moreover, 「SPIL 100-dollar Club for Children and Families 」was voluntarily formed by SPIL employees in 2001 to convey their care for children from low income families. The members of the Society includes from top management to the basic level. Each member at least donates 100-dollar every month to financially support children through the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families. Over these years, 「SPIL 100-dollar Club for Children and Families」 has aided over tens of millions dollars to low income families and becomes the biggest charity society in Taiwan. |
